SLOWING DOWN

SLOWING DOWN

EXPRESS IS NOT ALWAYS THE BEST

Three weeks ago I took a trip to Orlando Florida with my youngest niece. Our last day before heading back home we decided to go to Universal Studios. When we arrived to get our tickets the clerk offered a deal to me for two express passes. Since the tickets were pretty much free to us I went on and got the passes. My initial thought was we will not have to wait in long lines and get to enjoy a ride more than once while at the park. But when we got to one of my most favorite rides, “The Mummy” and whizzed right through to the front I noticed all the artifacts we normally see we weren’t experiencing any of it. Then I started to think about our other experiences throughout the entire park with our express pass.  It started to dawn on me how we were missing the entertainment, interaction with others and the experience before the ride.

My thoughts went to a higher level, I took it outside of the park and started looking at it in life overall.  I started to realize all that we are missing because of the microwave mentality society has consumed on us.  Universal is making millions of dollars daily for providing passes that take away from the experiences of all they have to offer in the park. When both my niece and I realized this we started to enjoy standing in line. It actually wasn’t bad we got to engage with other, talk longer with each other  and experience the artifacts and entertainment before the ride. Honestly, I enjoyed that so much more.

One major lesson that came from all of this is to stop moving so fast and slow down more to truly experience all life has to offer me. Moving fast continuously, I will truly miss experiencing life. When we slow down we are able to truly see, intake, enjoy and embrace everything around us. My grandmother use to always tell me never to be in a rush. She would tell me you will still get there or get what you need done going at a slow pace. It is now sticking with me. I am able to capture so much more in life and not miss that one important thing because I am not moving fast. When we are moving fast, I know for me most of the time I realize I forget something important or didn’t do something I needed to do. This is not a good feeling especially when you have forgotten something that was needed or you wanted to do.

Today I am just here to say SLOW DOWN! Life is not a race, life is meant to experience and enjoy it. Let’s start to embrace the beauties of life as we were orchestrated to do.
